The Inland Empire Utilities Agency offers a “Water is Life” Student Art Poster Contest annually. Using the theme “Being water-wise is…” students in Grades K-12 in IEUA’s service area are invited to create an art poster depicting various water uses, ways to use water more efficiently, or water conservation topics.

Recommended topics include:

  • Inside or outside of the home or school
  • In the environment (nature)
  • In agriculture
  • In business & industry
  • In recreation
  • Use of drought-tolerant plants
  • Use of efficient irrigation systems

2026/27 Water is Life Student Art Poster Contest Information

The 2026 poster deadline is Thursday, February 26 at 5pm.

All poster entries and forms (two forms) must be submitted in-person at Agency’s Headquarters at 6075 Kimball Ave, Chino during business hours (Monday – Thursday from 8am – 5pm). Download the Participation Form and Student Information Card Form found on the webpage.

Educators are allowed and encouraged to turned in all of their classes posters at once to streamline the drop-off. 2026 winners: Andi Stigart of Upland High School (10th grade, Upland) and Abishrudha Sabari of Cal Aero Preserve Academy (8th grade, Chino) have earned a coveted spot in the 2026 Metropolitan Water District’s “Being Water-wise Is…” Student Art Poster Contest Calendar. Their winning artwork first stood out in the regional IEUA “Water is Life” Poster Contest during this past spring, rising above hundreds of submissions. Their creative designs will be showcased in MWD’s 2026 calendar, which is distributed to more than 13,000 recipients across Southern California.
