Inland Empire Utilities Agency provides college students (undergraduate or graduate level) or an individual who has graduated from an accredited college or university the opportunity to explore a wide range of career paths within a regional wastewater treatment agency. Interns are assigned to an Agency department for a specific period of time to learn the administration and operation of the Agency. Assignments may include general administrative duties as well as working on special projects.
How the Program Works
The internship program is designed to provide students with meaningful work experience to supplement their academic curriculum and enhance their future career development. Past interns have gained valuable experience while working in the various departments within the Agency.
Interns earn between $12 and $17 per hour. Intern work hours will vary and be mutually agreeable between the intern and his/her supervisor. However, interns are limited to working a maximum of 25 hours in any work week (Sunday-Saturday).
While no prior work experience is required, qualified interns will have a working knowledge of the methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis, report preparation, budget preparation and administration. Interns will have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing and spread sheet programs is highly desirable. All interns must possess or have the ability to obtain prior to employment, a valid Class “C” California drivers’ license.
Priority will be given to applicants who have substantial coursework in business administration, public administration, engineering, environmental science, water/wastewater management, mass communications, or a field of studies related to the specific area of assignment.
The term of the internship is limited to 960 hours per fiscal year and 25 hours per week (July 1st –June 30th).
