INLAND EMPIRE, CA – In recognition of its outstanding efforts to promote transparency and good governance, the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) has received the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF).
“This award reflects our Agency’s strong commitment to open government,” said IEUA Board President Steve Elie. “I am proud to serve on a Board supported by a dedicated staff that empowers public engagement and strengthens accountability.”
Special districts are independent public agencies approved by voters that deliver core local services to communities, such as utility, wastewater treatment, fire protection, and more. SDLF is an independent, non-profit organization formed to promote good governance and best practices among California’s special districts through certification, accreditation, and other recognition programs. To receive the Transparency Certificate of Excellence, an organization must demonstrate the completion of essential governance transparency requirements, including conducting ethics training for all Board members, properly conducting open and public meetings, and filing financial transactions and compensation reports to the State Controller in a timely manner.
“Good governance and public accountability are not one-time achievements, but an ongoing commitment at IEUA,” said Elie. “We will continue to uphold the highest standards of transparency and operate with integrity, accountability, and openness as we deliver our essential services to the region.”
