Inland Empire, CA – In partnership with local water providers, the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) is facilitating a free automatic shut-off hose nozzle giveaway to celebrate Smart Irrigation Month and encourage the community to adopt water-wise habits.
The Smart Irrigation Month campaign, launched by Irrigation Association® over twenty years ago, raises awareness about the benefits of efficient irrigation technologies and practices. The campaign encourages residents to use water wisely, highlighting the social, economic, and environmental advantages of smart irrigation.
“Smart Irrigation Month serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of efficient irrigation practices in reducing water waste,” said Steve Elie, IEUA Board President. “As July brings traditionally warmer weather within the region, this month is an opportunity to educate our community on making informed irrigation choices. By doing so, we can collectively reduce water waste and support our ongoing commitment to ensuring long-term water reliability.”
IEUA recommends following these important tips:
- Use automatic shut-off hose nozzles, which can save five to seven gallons of water per minute.
- Water when the sun is down, winds are calm, and temperatures are cool so water has a chance to soak into the ground.
- Regularly check for and repair all leaks.
- Adjust sprinkler systems to prevent runoff onto the sidewalks, driveways, or street.
- Install high-efficiency sprinkler nozzles, drip irrigation, or a weather-based Smart Controller that can provide the appropriate watering schedule and adjust for changes in the weather. Rebates for sprinkler nozzles, irrigation controllers, and more can be found at SoCalWaterSmart.com.
“IEUA is proud to partner with our local water providers to promote practical, water-wise solutions,” continued Elie. “Through these shared efforts, we continue to safeguard public health and strengthen our region and the State for continued success.”
IEUA will be facilitating the automatic shut-off hose nozzle giveaway at the Agency’s Chino Headquarters, Building A, located at 6075 Kimball Avenue, Chino, California, from July 1 – July 30 from 8 AM – 5 PM Monday – Thursday.
