INLAND EMPIRE, CA – The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). Certification was received for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2022, celebrating 25 consecutive years in which IEUA staff have satisfied the high standards of this program.
“IEUA prides itself on maintaining high values of transparency and the application of ethical business practices,” stated IEUA Board President Marco Tule. “Fiscal responsibility is a critical component to ensuring affordability of essential services for our community, and we are proud to be recognized for meeting those standards for the 25th successive year.”
The GFOA represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada with a mission to advance excellence in public finance. The association has more than 20,000 members, including Federal, State/Provincial, and local finance officials involved in the implementation of various governmental operations in each of their jurisdictions. In 1945, the GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program to encourage state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that demonstrate a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
Reports were judged by an impartial panel to meet the program’s high standards. Awardees were given a Certificate of Achievement, a plaque or brass medallion, and an invitation to apply to join the Special Review Committee to get exposure to a variety of reports from around the country, gain insight into how to improve their own reports, achieve professional recognition, and provide valuable input that helps other local governments improve their reports.
“The Agency has worked hard to build a reputation based on fiscally sustainable principles, and this award is no exception to staff’s support and dedication to the Agency and its values,” continued Tule. “On behalf of the Board, I extend my sincerest congratulations to the Finance department and all staff who contributed their expertise for the creation of this report.”
