INLAND EMPIRE, CA – The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) recognizes the month of July as Smart Irrigation Month. Founded in 2005 by the Irrigation Association®, Smart Irrigation Month educates the public on the importance of water-use efficiency through best practices and efficient technologies.

In recognition of Smart Irrigation Month, IEUA will be offering free hose nozzles to residents within IEUA’s service area. The giveaway will take place at Building A of the Agency’s Chino headquarters from 8AM-4PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the month, while supplies last.

“Smart Irrigation Month presents a great opportunity to educate communities on the impact of their water usage and the steps they can take to be mindful of their water intake and use it efficiently,” stated IEUA Board President Jasmin A. Hall.

Due to an increase in residential water usage during the month of July, IEUA encourages the public to increase their water saving efforts, especially during the warmer seasons, by following these tips:

  • Water only as needed.
  • Water according to your local city’s/water district’s guidelines.
  • Detect and repair all leaks.
  • Incorporate California natives into your landscape.
  • Consider replacing your existing irrigation controller with a Smart Controller to automatically adjust to changes in the weather and the needs of your landscape.

More tips on efficient irrigation, rebates and resources will be shared to the Agency’s social media channels, @IEUAWater, throughout the month and can be found on the Agency’s website by visiting www.ieua.org.

“As California faces drought conditions, it is important to use the resources we have wisely and raise awareness of the role efficient irrigation plays in helping to overcome today’s water challenges,” continued Hall.
