CHINO, CA – The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) and the city of Chino partnered to present the 16th annual two-day Earth Day celebration on April 16 and 17, 2025. This year’s festivities provided Water Discovery field trips to approximately 1,100 students, parents, and educators on Wednesday, April 16. Close to 860 participants attended the Community Day celebration on Thursday, April 17, which also included scout troops and city of Chino’s after-school program participants.
“Earth Day serves as a vital reminder of the impact our actions have on the environment and the importance of sustainable practices,” stated Marco Tule, IEUA Board President. “We are appreciative of our continued partnership with the city of Chino which allows us to share our mutual values of environmental sustainability and water-use efficiency with the community. Participants were able to enjoy hands-on activities and educational experiences, helping students and community members alike gain the knowledge and tools needed to become responsible stewards of our water resources and the world around us.”
“Earth Day reminds us that protecting our planet is a shared responsibility,” said Dr. Linda Reich, Chino City Manager. “This year’s celebration highlighted Earth’s beauty and natural abundance, while reinforcing the importance of securing it for future generations. Together we can build a more sustainable future through awareness, education, and action.”
Community Day featured 43 educational and interactive booths that provided opportunities for the public to learn how they can protect the earth and do their part to help preserve our valuable, natural resources. Students who participated in the field trip portion enjoyed an environmental show as well as engaging activities to better understand proper recycling, the water cycle, water usage, and the wetlands and its functions. The celebration event showcased hands-on educational activities, animal encounters, train rides exploring the beauty of the wetlands, environmental exhibits, plant and compost education, water-saving technologies, free giveaways, and much more!
“The knowledge shared at this event empowers us to work together in reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices that will protect our planet for generations to come,” continued Tule.
