CHINO, CA – On April 22 and 23, 2026, the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) and the City of Chino partnered to present its 17th annual two-day Earth Day celebration. This year’s festivities provided Water Discovery field trips to approximately 850 students, parents, and educators on Wednesday, April 22. Close to 1,300 participants attended the Community Day celebration on Thursday, April 23, which included scout troops and City of Chino’s after-school program participants.
“Each Earth Day is a powerful reminder that safeguarding our water resources takes consistent dedication and strong community partnerships like the great partnership we have with the City of Chino and its residents,” stated Steve Elie, IEUA Board President. “Through hands-on experiences, we’re able to connect young learners and the community to the importance of strengthening our shared responsibility to preserve clean, reliable water for future generations.”

Students who participated in the field trip portion enjoyed an environmental show as well as engaging activities to better understand proper recycling, the water cycle, water usage, and the wetlands and its functions. The Community Day celebration featured 45 educational and interactive booths that showcased hands-on, educational activities, animal encounters, train rides around the park, environmental exhibits, plant and compost education, water-saving technologies, free giveaways, and much more!
