California Friendly Homes

The "California Friendly" Model Home Program offers technical assistance and financial incentives for builders to incorporate water saving, "California Friendly" features into new homes which include landscaping, fixtures and appliances. These upgrades in a new home can reduce typical water use by 30% and represent a valuable asset to homeowners. This program is jointly sponsored by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Metropolitan’s member agencies, including IEUA, the Bureau of Reclamation and the California Department of Water Resources. This effort is in collaboration with the Building Industry Association of Southern California.

Recycled Water

IEUA is developing a regional recycled water distribution system to make high quality and cost effective recycled water available to local water agencies throughout the Chino Basin. By using recycled water for outdoor irrigation and industrial processing, we can stretch our existing drinking water supplies for potable uses and, at the same time, drought proof our local businesses and economy.
